What this estimate does and does not include
- County fee (W.S. 31-3-101): 3% of the factory price times 60% in the first year of service, then 50%, 40%, 30%, 20% and 15% from the sixth year, $5 minimum. It is the largest part of the yearly bill.
- Sales tax is 4% state plus the county option rate for the county where you live. Albany County's own page says 5% from July 1, 2026 and 6% from October 1, 2026; the calculator uses 6%. For other counties enter the local rate. A trade-in counts only in the same transaction. Transfers between immediate family members are exempt where the tax was paid before.
- Electric decal $100 and plug-in hybrid decal $50 a year (2026 HB0145, from July 1, 2026; the EV decal was $200 before). No hybrid fee; motorcycles pay no decal.
- Trucks: the state fee for noncommercial trucks is by unladen weight and commercial vehicles by gross weight; those tables weren't confirmed, so truck state registration shows as not available.
- Not included: lien filing (a county form lists $20), late fees (none published), plates (no separate fee confirmed).
